Victoria Harbour

Victoria Harbour
Victoria Harbour is a likely landform harbour located among Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. The harbour's deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on the South China Sea were instrumental in Hong Kong's concern as a British colony and its ensuing development as a trading centre.

All over its history, the harbour has seen several reclamation projects undertaken on both shores, many of which have caused storm in current years because of environmental concerns concerning water quality and natural habitats in adding to economic concerns that reimbursement of land reclamation may be less than the effects of decreased harbour width, affecting the number of vessels passing through the harbour. However it still retains its beginning role as a port for thousands of international vessels each year.

Long eminent for its spectacular vision, the harbour is a foremost tourist attraction of Hong Kong. Lying in the middle of the territory's impenetrable urban region, the harbour is the place of annual fireworks displays and its promenades are admired gathering places for tourists and populace.
