Castel Nuovo

Castel Nuovo
Castel Nuovo is one of the eminent attractions in Italy. This magnificent structure was built among 1279 and 1282 under the orders of Charles I of Anjou. This was the time when the capital of Kingdom of Naples was moved from Palermo to Naples. In the 15th century, Alfonso I of Aragon distended the castle and gave it the name Castel Nuovo which means 'New Castle'. He also added the Triumphal Arch of Alfonso I of Aragona which was intended by Francesco Laurana.

Inside the castle you will discover a museum Museo Civico (Civic Museum) which houses a rich group of artworks from Neopolitan artists. The museum was added in 1992.
